How to Tie a Furoshiki

Before you begin: Your furoshiki is table sized, so fold it in half twice (printed side out) into a small square. Then follow the instructions below.

  1. STEP 1

    Lay the cloth as a diamond and place the box in the center.

  2. STEP 2

    Fold the nearest corner up over the box. For a snug fit, tuck the tip underneath.

    Fold the far corner down across the box, letting the tip drape over the edge.

  4. STEP 4

    Lift the left and right corners tight over the center and secure with a double knot.

    Lay the cloth diagonally and place the box in the center at a 45° angle.

    Bring the top and bottom corners to the center and tie a tight half knot.

  3. STEP 3

    Lift the left and right corners and hold them tight above the box.

  4. STEP 4

    Tie the two corners securely with a double knot, tucking in any loose fabric.

One more trick

When the game’s done, smooth it out.

Unfold the cloth completely and you’ve got the signature tablecloth for your Pavilion set — wrapped to travel, made to play.
